Big turn out! In Japan, most businesses are closed for a few days at the end of a year (as well as at the beginning) and karate dojo is no exception. But we Americans have better/stronger spirit, I guess! :-)

Training Subjects:

Warm-up:
Yori-ashi fwd/bwd
Kata: Heian 1-4, Hangetsu, Gojushisho-sho

Free-style:
Uke-waza in Kokutsu-dachi (knife-hand block for upper level, down block for lower level)

Kumite:
Uke-waza against a face attack (Kizami-zuki or Gyaku-zuki)
Uke-waza against a kick (Kizam Mae-geri or Mae-geri)
Uke-waza, followed by a counter attack = "Go-no-sen" timing

Many of you started karate in 2010 and I hope you enjoyed it. You will all keep getting better at it in 2011; all you need is to train consistently. I'm hoping you'll make a New Year resolution related to your health/fitness/karate!

Thank you very much for your support this year. The dojo could not have survived without you. Wishing you all a very happy New Year, full of fun karate training!
